I just wanted to let the many friends and aquaintences of Bitsy Mullins (my
Dad) know that he passed away over the weekend at age 77. For those of you
who didn't know him, he played for many years with some of the top Big Bands
of the 40's and 50's, including Buddy Rich, both Dorsey brothers, and Claude
Thornhill. Later he settled in Las Vegas, where he spent the remainder of
his career as a lead player in many of the hotel showrooms.

A memorial service will be held in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on Thursday at 4PM.

On a personal note, I'd like to thank Michael Anderson, as well as the rest
of you who, through your posts and discussions, make TPIN possible. I know
that even though my Dad hadn't played since the early 1980's because of
emphysema, his discovery of TPIN rekindled his interest in what was going on
in the "trumpet world", and allowed him to get to know or re-connect with
many he'd known or worked with through the years. Despite the arguing and
general mayhem that sometimes crosses this list (or maybe because of it!
: ), TPIN was a real pleasure for which he was truly grateful. Thanks
guys.
