I had an umbilical hernia, and I've also had an (unrelated) inguinal 
hernia, which I believe is more common. In both cases, the treatment was 
surgery; as far as I know, there are no generally accepted non-surgical 
treatments for hernias. Both times, I took a few weeks off the horn to give 
things time to mend properly, and I've had no complications since.
