[TPIN] private lesson liability insurance?

I've been using The Hartford for General Liability for years (software
business, not music)... But with regard to the school, it's probably similar
to what I end up doing with clients for whom I'm doing sub-contracting work:
They are named as an "additional insured" on my general liability policy.

There's a *relatively* nominal annual fee to have the another party put on
the policy - if I recall you can get an additional party insured for about
1,000,000 for an extra 100 bucks a year, more or less (working from memory
here). But the initial policy itself is an expense. For my small business,
it's on the order of $350 per quarter.

The rates very well could be different for school situations - the incidence
of accusation is apt to be higher. Call The Hartford 1-866-467-8730.

Subject: [TPIN] private lesson liability insurance?

i was wondering if any of you private lesson teachers have had experience
with getting professional liability insurance? i am teaching for a school
district (on site), and their new superintendent has issued a new policy
requiring all private tutors to have this (i'm assuming it's mainly due to
the potential for suits due to sexual misconduct)....i would appreciate any
input on where to get this and if there are trumpet/music organizations
(ITG, TMEA) etc. that have this available...thanks, dave lee (austin, tx)
