Monette Chicago 61X C trumpet, New Valves, Raw Brass - Item number:
200008553346
You are biding on a Monette 61X C trumpet serial number 669. This horn was
made by Dave Monette in about 1989. This was made during the era when Dave
Monette was producing the early constant pitch center horn, and before he
started making the huge heavy horns. This horn is a little heavier than a
Bach Stradivarius or a Yamaha heavy wall or Zeno, but lighter than the
Monette 993C. The valves were replaced last year with the same valves put
on new horns. The slides were tightened and the horn was adjusted to be
played with a C2 mouthpiece. So, despite the age of the horn, you are
getting in nearly every regard a brand new horn. The new version of these
horns is going for somewhere in the neighborhood of $6400, and a one year
wait. There are some very slight dents or depressions on the bell and near
the valve cluster. They will not show up in photos, Ive tried.
Larger versions of the photos are available at my website:

The horn is an absolute dream to play. It has a bright clear sound. The
scale is even (beyond what youd expect from any other brand of horn). It
blends in a section of other brand trumpets, but will out-project them all.
Youll play more beautifully than you ever thought possible.
I will ship it in a box with bubble wrap just like I got it from the shop.
I will ship FedEx 2nd day air and ship it the day the auction ends, or the
next day if it is after shipping hours if you pay with PayPal. If you want
to use a personal check, I will have to wait until it clears to ship the
horn.
I love this horn, but am selling it because I play in an orchestra with
matching newer and heavier 993Cs to play. This horn is easier to play than
the 993 for me.
Check my feedback and bid with confidence. Im not a big seller, but have
years of positive feedback.
Not included in the auction but also available are an STC-1 C2 mouthpiece,
and a STC-1 weight C2 Prana with a bent shank (bent my Mr Monette). If you
are interested in these, send an email. Id prefer to have them go with the
horn.
I'll answer email and phone questions dvb at sisna.com or 801 807-8329.
