As an interesting aside/parallel, I understand that zen masters would 
typically never redirect a student because they would never tamper with the 
student's inner calling.

The major reason for rejection/redirection in zen might be lack of 
effort/motivation.

So

If the student wants to go for it, who are we to say no??
We might want to point out the perils, however......
