[TPIN] How does one hang in there when really, really discouraged?

sometimes you have to set the horn down and take a break
sometimes it is for an hour
sometimes a day
sometimes a week
sometimes a month
sometimes a year

I've gone as far as a decade!

bottom line is this is not an easy adventure regardless of your skills

I've found that the better you get the tougher the trumpet becomes!

That being said however is NOT a reason to quit because as the trumpet
becomes more difficult it also becomes more rewarding,

In other words...
you could just start playing the trumpet one day
maybe get a book and learn some notes
but then one day you learn ALL the notes and start making MUSIC
then you join a band and start making more complex music with other
musicians
then you get better and start making even more complex music with better
musicians and then you begin to touch people with your music as you never
did before

I believe this is why Maynard, Wynton, Doc, Chuck, Adolph, Arturo and
________ keep playing EVERYDAY!

do they have bad days? I'm sure of it!
However, I'll take their bad day EVERYDAY if it means being able to make the
music they make!

take it from one cat who ALWAYS beats himself up and wants to quit almost
every year....
HANG IN THERE and keep on tooting!
