Ole -- I don't know the answer - but I think that the
conference coverage was mainly a volunteer effort and
it may just be that none of the contributors chose to
go to the Callet workshop. The workshop was
well-attended.
As I posted on TH yesterday, I was there, and I'm glad
I went. Those of you familiar with Jerry probably
know the drill -- there was a certain amount of name
dropping about famous players - many from the old days
- whom Jerry contends played with a tongue-controlled
embouchure. Also talk about people who are coming to
him now for advice. I'm sure some folks are put off
by this.
But there was no doubt that the half dozen or so folks
that came up (all ages and abilities) to get a bit of
one on one coaching all felt the approach was a)
different than what they had been doing and b) gave
them easier, more efficient tone production.
I've dabbled with TCE off and on, but with some doubt
about whether I was really doing it right. The clinic
gave me more confidence about that, and I can attest
that applying the concept has improved my playing, in
just a few days.
If Jerry asked my advice (and he didn't) I'd just say
- skip the talk and get to the demonstrations.
