This probably seems like a silly question, but would either a double or
triple trumpet gig bag fit 1 trumpet and 1 flugel? I took a hard look
at some of the gig bags friends had today, and none of the
trumpet/flugel ones have what I want in a gig bag, but there are some
triple trumpet cases out there that do. The selling point for me is
pockets that can hold small stuff like grease, oil, tuner, metronome,
etc. An important consideration is that my flugel has a larger bell
than most (6.5" vs. the usual 6"), so the bag needs to be able to handle
that. Could someone give me some advice?

==================================

I have a very old Reunion Blues triple that I have always used for my
flugel. A Bb would also barely fit in it, but I usually carry my Bb in an old
Wolfpak case because it is more idiot proof.

I keep my small things in a smaller bag or in the Bb case in a horn slot. I
have always carried mutes in a separate bag so they don't damage anything or
get squashed by anything else I am carrying.

I would look around for some of these old Reunion Blues triple or super
triples. Probably there are players that are not using them anymore. They are
not as fool proof as a hard shell case, but I have never had a problem with my
flugel in a soft bag in 15 years more or less.
