I have a bit of an inside connection regarding this topic and it was told to
me yesterday that if Phil does not win the appeal he will probably do a
minimum of 5 years jail time since it is a federal case. Maximum is 15.
There are three counts and they can be served concurrently.
The case has to do with his use of the allowance the IRS gives to Ministers
for a maintaining a parish home. Apparently they think Phil overdid this
allowance for some time... The number is quite large. In fact, they have put
in stricter regulations since this case.
Personally, I hate to see anyone do jail time over this sort of
thing..(martha stewart) Fines are in order perhaps, but going to the big
house is not imo.
My best wishes to Phil. I hope he wins on appeal.
