Hello trumpet colleagues
I've been following this thread with interest. I have a situation, and
perhaps need some advice. I use music notation software "Printmusic! 2004"
by Finale and part of the deal is the facility to post your arrangements on
their website (as well as see and download the arrangements of others).
The point is, I downloaded a band arrangement of "Assurance Rag" which is a
ragtime arrangement of the hymn "Blessed Assurance", and "re-arranged" it
for our brass quintet. The only info I have of the arranger of the piece I
downloaded is the initial "CSW".
The quintet really enjoy playing "Assurance Rag" and would like to contact
CSW for permission to perform it and / or acknowledgement purposes. Anyone
out there have any idea who "CSW" is? What are the implications of
performing this piece in public? I believe our copyright laws in South
Africa are pretty strict and along the lines of British law.
Many thanks, folks
