Don,

I think that the clarinet needs to blow like hell and articulate to
match you. Otherwise, its not really the vivaldi. Having the clarinet
stretches the definition a little but its an education for the clarinet to
have to imitate a tpt. It seems to me that the articulation of the clarinet
really has to match and the style has to match. People will enjoy the
interesting combination if you play well together. If you often go into ww
mode, you probably need to get in shape to the point that you can play
pretty gracefully. If it were me I would do a lot of soft playing. Real slow
long warm ups. Don't go high before the chops are ready, becau;se if you
push and the lips swell at all, delicate, graceful playing is pretty tough.
I been there many times. Then you have to play loud and lose so much of
what you were trying to do to match the clarinet or vice versa.l Listen to
me pontificating here. Use your intuition and instinct to decide how to
approach it. Then see; where you are with the clarinet and adjust from
there. It could be a pretty fun thing to make it work. That would be cool.
You are probably making history. Make sure you record it. It may become
part of the repertoire. Heck, if Andre can play oboe concertos etc. You
can to tpt and cl onvivaldi. What's vivaldi gonna do? Call the cops?
Have a good time with it. We'll all want to hear how it turns out.
