[TPIN] exquisite

Yeah, I just got my copy in the mail today, and just finished my first
listening. I did not know it was possible to play the trumpet like that.
The Saloon pieces by Broughton are gorgeous, and the Zappa piece -- Whoa
Nelly! Is that possible!? Wow... And it makes me think that I could
practice with perfect intensity, consistency and rigor with the highest
standards for say... 4 thousand years, and never achieve that level of
ability. I can't decide if I want to be inspired or completely demoralized.
(just kidding, but only sort of...)

Me too. I keep wondering how McNab is able to produce such uniformity of
timbre throughout registers.
It simply goes beyond anything anyone else has recorded on trumpet.

It sounds as though technical difficulties have no meaning to him at all.

Unfortunately the recording is unlikely to get much of a hearing outside the
cult of us trumpet geeks. I'm trying to correct that in my modest sphere of
influence.

I wonder how practical it would be for him to perform Tschaikovsky Violin
Concert live with a real orchestra? How much editting cut&paste was involved
with producing this recording? As astounding as it is to hear all those
impossible licks on a trumpet; is it also possible to play through the whole
thing? Was there horn swapping going on?

It seems like a few technical details on the recording would have been a
thoughtful accomodation of the likely market for this CD.

It's always wonderful to have preconceived notions of what is possible and
impossible corrected.
