Perhaps, but once you've had a cold you will not 
catch the same one again. You should guard against 
infecting other people, but don't worry about 
re-infecting yourself. Once your body has built up 
anti-bodies to a particular cold strain you will 
not get it again.

While viruses may survive for longer periods, in 
fact most will die within a few hours and nearly 
all infectivity will be lost in a day or so.
