Good for you on your auction.  

As for the "controversy," there really is not one.  On some other forums, auctions are discussed a lot.  Some users bird dog eBay for questionable sales to the point of going overboard, but it has probably made others more aware of the eBay rules and tactics people use to get around them.

Like Rob related, it is easy to violate the rules innocently.
