Probably the only reason not to play is if you're too tired, or have a
fever. My wife was certain I was being foolish by practicing (or rehearsing
or performing) when I was sick (and I don't get sick often, but when I do,
it's always respiratory in nature) - she thought the pressure would not be
good for me - but my doctor says no problem if I feel I'm up to it.
