Hello, Everyone on the TPIN List!

I have been a TPIN member for a couple of years now; contributing comments, suggestions, encouragement, and ideas to the "mix" from time to time.

I am now very pleased to announce the release of my own solo CD, "The Art of the Posthorn," on the MSR Classics label (MS 1184). I hope you will check it out!

For more information, please go the listing for the CD on the MSR website: http://www.msrcd.com/1184/1184.html

Or, you may view the listing on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Art-Posthorn-Countryside-Concert-Hall/dp/B000JCEA9Q/sr=8-5/qid=1160152492/ref=sr_1_5/102-0384582-4008139?ie=UTF8&s=music

Fellow trumpeters, don't let the term "posthorn" fool you! This recording also includes exciting and absolutely unique original calls and "art" music for the Postal-Trumpet!

For those who may not have heard of this instrument, it was basically like a bugle or military field-trumpet. It was played by virtually every postal delivery person throughout Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. Byt he 1830's, holes, then valves were added, and it became a concert instrument. Shortly after valves were added to the French posthorn ("cornet de la poste"), it soon developed into the cornet we trumpeters still use today. The famous "Posthorn Solo" from the Symphony No. 3 by Gustav Mahler was directly inspired by this rich brass playing tradition.

The culmination of four years of international research, performance, and lectures, this recording includes works for solo posthorn and piano (orchestral reductions) by Mozart (the famous "Posthorn Serenade"), Michael Haydn, Louis Spohr, and Franz Schubert, and others. Of particular interest may be the inclusion of original postal calls and tunes used throughout Europe in the 19th century, inlcuding a postal call notated by Beethoven in his diary. Original instruments and modern replicas of period correct instruments are used exclusively.

At present, you may purchase the recording from either of the above websites. Extensive international distribution, through Albany Records, to commence in March 2007.

Thanks for taking a look!
