Just a quick note to let you know that I have just completed Volume  
III of the Companion Series, THE SMALL COMPANION. I am very excited  
about this book (the first two were the Charlier Companion and the  
Arban, which have turned out to be highly successful), as I have used  
the Small for a number of years and find the book great for the  
students.

The new companion is, as are the others, a set of independent etudes  
that, when played with, in this case, the studies in the book, 27  
Melodious and Rhythmical Studies for Trumpet, by J.L. Small, turns  
them into duets.

Doing the etudes with students as duets (sort of like dessert) is  
great fun on many levels (duets are always a great pedagogical tool).
