[TPIN] Bass trombone (for tuba) in a brass quintet?

Ellis, I've played with both. That feeling of solidity and more depth,
mentioned by somebody else, seems to me to help with rhythm and pulse in
some cases. I'm not talking umpah-type stuff but rather simply that the
breadth of sound seems to push things along with the tuba. 
On the other side, there's a sort-of light classical feel about a
trombone instead of tuba ensemble. I played once in a shopping mall with
this config and it felt like we were playing true Gabrielli-type music.
I found myself thinking about the old sackbut ensembles with trumpet.
