>>>Jens makes a good point about not lingering his gaze too long on any one
individual is very good, but just good common sense.
Ok.... This is too good to let go. Reminds me of a funny incident...
Years ago ("many many moons ago") I was playing Johnny Matthis...
A very pretty girl was sitting in the audience, off to my left, but in my
field of vision (the pit was next to the stage - "theatre in the round" - so
the first 10 rows or so had visibility to the band and visa-versa).
I was having a difficult time *not* making eye-contact in this case! (I was
about 22 years old - enough said). Also... I could not help but happily
notice that she was eye-balling me too while the band was playing. Hmmmm...
After about 10-15 minute of this, I noticed that the seat next to her was
empty. Then I heard this voice from behind me:
"Just play your horn, fella, and keep your eyes off my date". I turned
around to see this guy that could easily do a character role as a hit man on
The Sopranos.
Needless to say, I decided it was in my best interest to keep my eyes glued
to the music for the rest of the evening.
The guys around me in the band almost split a gut laughing - didn't let me
live this one down for a while!
Oh baby...
- da
Sorry if this is "off topic"... But in reality, what could be more "on
topic" for a bunch of trumpet players? (!)
