[TPIN] airlines + trumpet: travel difficulties

When I fly with my Monette Cornet there is always a conversation. I wish
they would ask me to play it as it would be fun.

I remember with the Marine Band security at the White house would often ask
us to play a note though the instrument. Being human this bothered me a it:
the Marine band members all have white house clearance, come together with
the officer in charge on the same bus, and know each other. (One time at the
CIA, the guard to my cornet, held it upside down and shook it, causing my
gold-plaited mouthpiece to fall out of the horn and destroying it. The
colonel had the band purchase anther one for me.) Most people would play a
note softly in the mid range (as if this proved anything- one could not help
thinking of ways one *could* have harmful things i the instrument and still
play a note. A couple of times I played a very loud high note for the guard.
This was I confess, a childish reaction- but was fun!
