From: "Steve Evans" <baissie at yahoo.com>
To: "Keith Reynolds" <trumpet1 at nycap.rr.com>; ...Or maybe I need to learn
one new set of fingerings that I can use on Eb and F parts with a Bb and C
horn. Whatever it is, I know it requires practice. That goes without saying.
I just don't want to waste time practicing the wrong approach. Am I on the
right track?

I think that no matter what method you use, practice is the real key to
learning. Human beings are lucky, because our brain power enables us to
relearn some pretty complex things. There was a guy who donned a pair of
glasses that made everything backwards and upside-down. When he first put
them on, he couldn't even stand up. In about one week he could drive, read,
and do everything else while wearing them. He made a small pair and put them
on a chicken. If he hadn't taken them off, the chicken would have starved to
death standing on a mountain of corn.....So, while you are learning to
transpose, just be glad that you aren't a chicken....:^)
