Hi all, I've recieve numerous emails from some on this list about whether or
not I'm related to JimTrimble and hoped to save a bit of time. Here's the
scoop........
I'm 36 now and yes the son of Jim Trimble. He's still alive and playing
at 63. He lives in an rv now and travels the country where ever he feels
like. He is retired but plays when he wants to. Yes he's the bone player
from the Buddy Rich band that did the "Somewhere" solo.
His dad, my grandpa, was Kenny trible lead bone player for Welk for over
30 years. I was on that show with dad and him when I was ten. Kenny died
of colon cancer about 15 years ago but his wife, Bonnie, is still alive.
I grew up in Vegas in the 70's and know a lot of the players from that
time. I swiped every recording from my dad I could get. I spent every
minute I had at the union listening and eventually playing in the late night
big bands. I would ride my bike down to the four queens to hear some of the
greatest players that ever lived.
I studied with Walt Blanton, John Harner, and eventually Tommy Porrello.
I still and in contact with them from time to time to thank them for all
they've taught me. I know this really isn't much of a trumpet post but I
thought some of you would like to know...:)
Thanks for reading this far....:)
Jon Trimble
