Trumpet friends,

I have bad news about a friend of mine's trumpets, they were swiped out of
his car near Symphony Hall several days ago. I'm posting on his behalf,
I've copied his message below. Please feel free to contact either he or I
if you have any information. Thanks so much for your time!

Eric

Dear Trumpet community,

I wanted to share some sad news and make an appeal for help. I'm a
Master's student at the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA and I had
two trumpets stolen from my car last wednesday (8/30) and my
girlfriend's french horn was also stolen from the same. We lost an
otherwise unremarkable Bach Stradivarius B-flat Trumpet (37 Bell; Serial
#495244), a new Yamaha Artist-Model "Chicago" Xeno C Trumpet
(YTR-9445CHS; Serial #476910) and a high-end Engelbert Schmid Full
Double French Horn (Yellow Brass with Gold Brass, Hand-hammered bell
with garland; Serial #24097).

Certainly there are lessons to be learnt about not leaving your
instrument in plain view in the car, locking the trunk-lock that many
cars come equipped with when your horns are there, and carrying
instrument insurance -- but they all boil down to listening to what
folks who've been around the block will tell you and doing all of the
above.

But what I would like to do is ask all of you out there to help us out
and keep an eye out for our instruments. As you can imagine, these
valuable pieces of metal were also extensions of our musical selves and
we greatly desire to get them back. They may very likely show up in an
instrument shop or pawn shop in the near future and the Yamaha and the
Schmid are both top-end instruments and should be easy to spot if they
show up used. If anyone out there hears of or sees either of these
instruments, please give me a call (617.217.1004) or an email (fred at
sienkiewicz.org) right away. The chances might be slim, but we're
trying to cast as wide a net as possible and we'd love to get them back
if at all possible.

A more detailed list of what went missing is available in a one-page
flyer I made, available at my website:
http://fred.sienkiewicz.org/files/horn-theft.pdf

Many heartfelt thanks in advance for any un-noticed, un-rewarded time
and effort spent on our behalf. We are deeply grateful for the community
of fellow musicians who have already been so helpful to us.

Sincerely,
Fred Sienkiewicz
