Interestingly this subject is also being discussed on Trumpet Herald right
now. In order to use our custom Bb piccolo mouthpipe for Schilke you must
use a short shank trumpet mouthpiece as made by Monette, Warburton (BLP
shanks), Blackburn, Reeves, Greg Black and others. When asked I will "short
shank" trumpet mouthpieces to cornet length @2.750". This is the only way to
play a trumpet receiver piccolo mouthpipe in Bb on a Schilke without
altering the mouthpipe receiver. Stomvi is similar to the Schilke but their
receiver is much shorter to allow either trumpet or cornet receiver
mouthpipes. I hope this is helpful. Contact me if you have further
