Go to your local hobby store and buy cork track-bedding material. It comes 
in various width strips (based on the width of various size model train 
tracks) and lengths of about two feet. It's dirt cheap (maybe 30 cents a 
length) and perfect for the job. You can wrap it around a harmon or cut 
pieces for a straight/cup. For thicker pieces just layer it using contact 
cement.
