Truer words were never spoken:

<<
That is why each person's sound, tone quality and resonance is unique
and gives each one of us a very distinct identity. I have said this very
thing in many other of my articles on this subject. Each player's sound is
his/her most personal and distinctive characteristic and it is all
determined by the MIND.......Sincerely, Leon Merian

I was schooled classically but did mostly commercial work in my younger
years: lead work for theatres, headliners, etc. Also did a fair amount of
legit work - solos, church work and orchestras. It always amazed me that I
got the most compliments on sound - on legit gigs - when I was playing my
slightly drilled out Bach 7E (!) after being beaten to death the day before
playing 2 shows for an act like Gladys Knight, the Temptations, or the
Spinners. (I mean adjectives like "rich", "open", "full"... When playing a
Bach 7E... Not a Bach 1C or 1B with a 25 drill... Go figure).

I firmly believe that Leon is dead on correct: It's the sound you hear in
your head. Equipment just makes it a bit easier or a harder to 'realize'.
