John,
I like to hear literature that is appropriate for the student's level.
Students often feel that the piece is most important and it isn't. You don't
impress the people listening by choosing a difficult piece and then
struggling to get through it. Have them pick something that they can play
well... Something they can play with confidence and have the most success no
matter how easy it is. Yes, it is good to have something lyric and something
articulative.
Finally, make sure they come audition at Oklahoma City University. :-)
