Hi Harry,
I didn't see the original post but saw Tim's reply.
Anyway, I played Chorus Line about 3 months ago on lead trumpet. Its a
great show to play!
For the trumpet the best parts are:
* after an 'unusual' sax solo there is a nice lyrical solo for trumpet -
takes you up to high C#
* following the solo there is quite a taxing section which is all in
high A - C range - but great fun to play
* towards the end of the number there is a pair of high F#s (above high
C) - great to taz out
For the rest of the numbers there are several high C#s, Ds and at least
one E above high C.
Overall the lead part seems challenging at first but once you settle
into what is going on it transforms into an enjoyable experience.
There are at least 2 CD recordings of the show.
Note that there is also the film version. This has a 'similar'
storyline. The songs are the same but the film has a 'pro' trumpet
section with some tremendous trumpet playing. I dont know who is doing
lead but 'wow!'. Its a good job the show trumpet part was nothing like
the film!
Have fun, Tony.
