There have been a few replies, but I'd like to add a few things.
I did this 5 or so years ago, and the main thing is to be
*thoroughly* warmed
up, because the first thing you play is the "God I Hope I Get It" which
starts out
with the lick with the unision jump from A to Eb (above staff). You do this
about
8 times in the first tune, so be ready.
Overall, it's not that high but the big dance tune "Music In a
Mirror" really
wails towards the end, with a couple of solo shakes on 2 F#'s. It's got a
really
fun solo in the middle of the same tune that goes up to C#, but it lays
really well
and you can bark it out.
With a 9 piece "orchestra" you'll likely be the only trumpet, and
that
would bother me. You'll be exposed as heck, and everything you play will
be a solo. Personally, I'd hate to do that show if I were the only trumpet
player.

>I have been offered a chance to play this in a 9-piece "Orchestra" for a
local theatre group. I would like to hear from anyone about their
experience, what the range is, and any pit-falls in the part. I don't know
the orchestration yet because I just got the e-mail today asking if I was
interested.
