I wouldn't give up on the horn yet unless I've
sent it to a top-notch repair person.  One person
I would suggest is Wayne Tanabe, who is now running
a repair and customization shop at the Yamaha
artist center in Manhattan.  He still works on
any kind of horn, as far as I know.

There are other great repair pros too, and TPIN
folks will offer names.

It could be that the valve casing is flexing slightly
when you hold (squeeze) the horn.  But, it sounds like
a valve guide issue, most likely.  If you like
the Bach you have, I expect it will be fixable
more cheaply than finding another horn.  And, you
might not like the replacement horn as much.
