Ellis,

I promise you the one thing. I will never be is an Administrator.

The last time I posted (on a related topic from a couple of weeks ago) there
were several posts that received no responses that I'm aware of and those
are the reasons for all those disclaimers.

One of them was from someone who took a standpoint of "victimization by
generational association". (They're not that big, you can figure it out...)

If you understood what I said, and didn't like the way I said it, it's on
you. I'd apologize if I thought you actually wanted an apology. I suspect
that the real issue is that you don't agree with what I said. It's a typical
political tactic. Attack the style if you don't like the substance.

The opposite of "verbose" is what plagues our culture now. Yes, it runs in
cycles, but too much attention to detail is not our culture's big problem
these days. I'd assert that it's related to people who absolutely will not
tolerate anything of complexity (including music) that's not repetitive and
simple. If somebody ran an ad campaign (for anything really...) that sounded like
any prose style from forty years ago (even the good stuff, Steve Allen used
to do comedy routines about this back when the audience existed for it) the
audience would go to sleep instantly. Is this the writer's fault or the
audience's? It's a matter of opinion but you do the topic a disservice by
pretending there's only one side to the issue.

Put another way: People pretending to be laconic "plain talkers" who hide
common sense in "incestuous amplification" (Yea! More big words! Look it
up....) are the more serious problem now. I suspect that it was that part that
pissed you off, maybe. Too Bad. Everybody gets an opinion.

Please take this off list now. I stand by my assertions and I can back them
up. I also try to follow MA's requests. Short of character assassination,
that is....

I've noticed that you're pretty combative in your posts with others here so
I don't expect you to try to understand my position anyway. Your loss.......

Rick Price
