A silver Wild Thing in B-flat. (This is not an advertisement for Flip, it's
just my opinion).

I bought it new about three years ago. I use the full (not conical)
standard .470 bore
tuning slide that came with it, with one slight mod: the brace has been
removed. It
played great anyway, but it plays even a little better now with the brace
removed.

When looking for a new horn back then, I played on everything I could find
from a couple of
different models of Schilke, Bach, Yamaha and various others. I have a
Yamaha 6335S, which
I really like, but it just doesn't have the response that I wanted.

The mouthpieces I use are: a Bach 1, and Monette B11, and a modified
Schilke 14a4a. The
Bach and Monette I used for classical stuff (which I don't play much any
more) and church work,
and the 14a4a I use for jazz and big band, and any other time I want a
brighter sound.

I use it for everything. I has a darker sound than many other horns I've
played, so when I need
a brighter sound I use a different mouthpiece (as stated before).
