Hey Rich,

Who were the other guys in the band? I would think that it would take a chunk of change to get them to travel and play. A large group like that. Did they do a little tour up the coast and schedule schools all along the way? Pay for busses, hotels, meals, plus the performances themselves. I brought the Buddy Rich band to my school(at the time) in Upper Michigan which cost us a big chunk. And I'm sure Buddy was paying his guys squat. All young guys as usual.

WOW!!! I have some of their CD's, but that doesn't do> them justice, you HAVE to see them in person if you get the chance! Wayne> was amazing, of course, as were all the musicians. And I gotta give some> great credit to the drummer who really did an excellent job of kicking the> band. Nothing over the top or too simple, just doing what a drummer> should be doing (and no, I don't mean drooling). So much energy, so much> fun, I had a stupid silly grin on my face the entire time (and still do a> little). Seriously, if you get a chance to see them, DO IT!> > Oh, and this was at a local high school. They got the money together to> get them up here. There were at least six other high school jazz bands> there (to listen, not play, only the hosting school played and they were> pretty darn good for high school), and all the kids were getting into the> music big time. That was very cool to see young kids digging this kind of> music. So if you're a teacher and can get the money together, you can> have them out at your school too.> > WOW!> > > Rich Uchytil> _______________________________________________> TPIN mailing list> TPIN at tpin.okcu.edu> http://tpin.okcu.edu/mailman/listinfo/tpin
