Two things... I studied with Mr. Jacobs, and there are things in the
Breathing Gym that, in my opinion, can promote great tension in breathing
that he would never prescribe. Most of it is in line with Mr. Jacob's
teaching and exercises and can be of great value. Just be careful with the
high pressure exercises where you are inspired to force air out with
explosive air.

Secondly, Be careful with the Power Lung. I think it also can promote great
tension in breathing, but the primary concern I have is the pressure this
thing puts on the soft pallet. I bought one in Ft. Worth. I bought the one
with the lowest possible back pressure setting and had I used it more than I
did (which was only a day or so) it would have done potentially serious
damage to my soft pallet. Perhaps I am susceptible to this and have a weak
soft pallet, but please be very very careful with this product. Once you
can't make a good seal with your soft pallet, you won't be able to play any
wind instrument well.
