UK mates correct us if your American counterparts don't know what we are talking about(OK its not we, its ME)
I mentioned this when we talked about the Berlin Phil. London Orchestras are not highly paid, are not large, and the musicians work a LOT. Having 4 big time orchestras creates a fair amount of competition, but I don't know if that has any bearing on the economics of it.
