>From what I understand, the London Symphony charges a one-time fee to be
used for recording purposes, where most American orchestras collect
royalties. I can't remember who told me that, but it was someone connected
with the recording scene. It makes sense then why they've recorded on so
many movies and albums and such.

Don't duck for cover, Michael. I'm sure this is
why the London Symphony records for all kinds of
projects. Just paw through the bargain bins
of a record store sometime and look at how many
discs by no-name labels and unknown conductors
show up with the London Symphony. I think it's
labor union rules and such that make it
cheaper to record in London than in the U.S.A.
