[TPIN] trumpet related message regarding sinus surgery

Man, I could have written this post :) I just had surgery two Fridays ago.
Mine dealt with an endoscopy, septum repair, and a couple of other
procedures I do not recall the name of offhand.

First off, I am not completely recovered yet in that I still have some
disocomfort in my nose. It's minor, but it's always there.

The surgery itself was remarkably painless. It would say that I never had
*pain*, but I did suffer discomfort. The worse part is the nasal splints
you'll have to endure for several days.

With respect to any effects on my playing, I have not yet resumed playing. I
think the hardest part of the whole thing is dealing with the layoff. My
surgeon will not let me play for 2 weeks, and I am itching to get back in
the saddle, so to speak.

Subject: [TPIN] trumpet related message regarding sinus surgery

I am seriously contemplating having sinus surgery in late August to
hopefully correct long standing issues with chronic sinusitis, which
typically results in approximately 6 infections per year and constant
forehead pressure.

My question and concern relates to whether any trumpet players on this list
have had this procedure and whether or they experienced any serious and / or
ongoing complications that affected their capability to continue to play the
trumpet at the same level as prior to the surgery.

This procedure, which would be done entirely through the nose would include:

-Functional endoscopic sinus surgery
-Septoplasty
-repair left side deviated septum
-maxillary antrostomy
-ethmoidotomy

Any feedback regarding complications or horror stories would be appreciated.
