I would bet that *most* trumpet players (especially 1st trumpet fodder) were
"bad" (or at least 'mibehaved') band members to some degree...
...I could tell stories, but my reputation is already murkey. And I don't
want to bore y`all...

I suppose it might be too rich to suggest that in some cases the commentator
on the mistakes in the band might be airing some comments that ought to have
been made in another forum. Perhaps, a more helpful response would be to
thoroughly look our own participation in any ensemble and see if we are
really doing our best. If some players seem not to know they aren't pulling
their weight, maybe the band ought to have some version of a suggestion box!
These comments come from having played in an amateur swing band who didn't
seem to know what they were doing, who worked under a director who didn't
seem to think the problems were worth considering.
Others may say you have a choice, shut up or leave. I was eventually asked
to leave when another player who was visiting came in and sat in my chair
when I arrived late. There is more to the story, but i will leave it there,
