Art is the result of applied technique. If I were to
learn to paint and was getting pointers on technique
from two people, one of whose work I'd experienced and
admired - the other with no "track record" to my
knowledge, who would I pay more attention to?

I may listen to both and eventually try to evaluate
the second person's ideas but I know the first
person's approach has been successful.

We are not talking art here, we are talking more about
technique. Impact to harmony of altering chord tones.
 Coordination in a section.

My two centavos.
