The solution is to live with another trumpet player! I used to worry that two trumpet players wouldn't get along, but I've found the opposite to be true. It's fun to be with someone who shares the same interest and plays in the same groups. 
   
  Examples of trumpet player couples include Barbara Butler & Charley Geier, Channing & Margaret Philbrick, Chuck & Louise Finton. I'm sure there are more.

kicked this around with my lady friend where she told me it wouldn't bother
her. She added that she snores. That's when I said, "Now that could be an
issue." So, we live apart in bliss where I can play as much as I want,
anytime I want. And she can blissfully snore as much as she wants, when she
wants. But being the good doobie I am, I did offer her my tuner so she can
snore on pitch.
