Imagine, Mike Vax thinking he's not famous!! Why Mike, what are you
thinking? :-) :-) Seriously, Mike, it's interesting! Many would like to
attain to your level of respectability, entre, contact, etc. and yet,
you're looking uphill further! There's not a *thing wrong with that! I
do wonder if fried pickles, fried jalapenoes (or however you spell
them), and other things make you more famous!!! :-) :-) You may not hit
Wynton's and those other guys' publicity level, but there are a lot of
us who think a lot of you! 
And yes, Leon discussed the same question with me face to face that you
and he have talked about. I think Brian Fredricksen (Sorry about
spelling Brian; I got the first name right!) really hit it when he
delineated how we should analyze in the practice room but let her rip on
stage! Leon did that. If you'd heard him blowing over his big band like
I did, you'd've known that! And yet, as I said in another post, he
ripped part of my playing, specifically certain tonguing, to shreds!!
