OK, one last post:

My wife and I recently had our 25th wedding anniversary, but we didn't celebrate much more than a
quiet dinner out together. The real celebration will come later.

Anyway, she doesn't come to my gigs very often, but she thought she would come last weekend when I
was playing with a hot (and fun) big band at an outdoor venue. However, it turned out to be quite warm
that evening, so the event was moved indoors to an American Legion hall. I thought that was a good
thing because these places usually have bars and at the bar you can get pop and stuff.

At dinner before the gig, she asked if it would be bad if she didn't come, and I evidently gave an
obvious forlorn look, so she decided to come anyway.

And now, the rest of the story:

The night beffore, I got the idea that, since she was going to be there, I'd have the band play our
favorite song, "After the Lovin'" for our anniversary. The leader had to make some calls to find it, but
finally came up with it (actually, I thought that we already had it in our library).

Well, at 55, she was by far the youngest person there so she found a chair in the back and sat
uncomfortably until the leader announced that a band member had a 25th anniversary and that they
were going to play their favorite tune. When she figured out that it was us, she about had a cow. We
danced (swaying is the best I can do) during the tune and everyone applauded at the end and she ended
up having a good time anyway.

i figure that ought to last me for a couple years at least!

Dave
