Here goes:

One strategy is to establish a trumpet scholarship fund - call it the "Leon
Merian TPIN Scholarship" - which awards a scholarship from the annual
interest earned in the fund, based on a combination of merit and need.

The challenge:

Get enough people from combinations of TPIN, ITG, etc. to establish a
$100,000 fund. Invested in something tax free and gaurenteed (say municipal
commercial paper, or auction rates) - the fund would be gauranteed to earn
$3000 a year, or more. Even at $50K, you would generate $1500 a year - still
enough to do something special.

The scholarship money could be used for just about anything: lessons for a
young student, an instrument, part of college tuition...

Might sound "grand" - but it's not that tough. All you need is enough people
to get a descent kitty together...
