[TPIN] Resting the Chops

All players probably struggle with this to *some* degree. What I find
helpful is to have an easy, free 5 to 10 minute warm-up, after which I
put the horn down for 10 to 15 minutes before resuming practice.
This gives some physical and mental space to assess the condition of
your "machine". I'd your feeling tired, or if the sound isn't
"moving" (sparkling) - it often is better to leave it for the day and
let the muscles rest. Especially after a hard job or strenuos
practice the previous day.

I do believe it is healthy to be able to put the horn aside for a day,
every once in a while to see how easily you can re-approach it the
next day. When you are playing efficiently, it's not hard to do this.
