Of course not, but putting one on such an unstable surface is plain stupid.
Propping it up on the same chair resting on on the bottom of the valve
section is even worse. Its not like this is kitchen chair.. It is a fold-up
lawn chair with no flat surfaces.
The bells are very soft and they warn you against putting them on a bell
stand because over time the weight of the body of the horn will slowly bend
the bell. I've seen it happen.
They don't self destruct but they are very easy to seriously damage. Believe
me, I have some personal experience on this subject matter. :-)
