Subject: [TPIN] A plug for Rich Willey
Hey Everyone,
I hope this is trumpet-related enough, as I have nothing substantive about
the actual instrument to say....
But I just gotta shout out for Rich Willey. I ordered two of his Jazz Duet
books a couple of days ago, and POW! They came virtually overnight. This is
amazing to me because I live in far northern California, where the mail
train stops about twice a week and it usually takes *forever*....
He was also gracious and quick to help on the phone. So I'm all for Boptism.
And you should be too!
(He isn't paying me to say any of this.)
Dave Stacey
Gee, thanks David . . . it was nice talking to you on the phone the other day.
I have a new, "Cute" arrangement of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" for trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax and trombone with rhythm section. It features the drummer's fancy brushwork à la "Cute" and the blowing is on a minor blues.
If you're interested in this arrangement, I'll give it to you at a TPIN-only bargain price. Send $8.00 via PayPal to boptism at charter.net and I'll fire off a PDF file to you with all the parts.
The PDF file includes a Trumpet II part (the alto part), a Trombone III part (the tenor part), and a Baritone Sax IV part (the trombone part) for those of you who'd like to do this with an entire big band (which we're doing here locally, and it works very well).
The Asheville Jazz Orchestra is doing "A Stan Kenton Christmas" on Friday night. If you're going to be in the area, let me know and I'll send you the specifics.
Thanks, folks, and hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year!
Rich
