[TPIN] The responses I've been getting

Andrew,

Hang in there, follow your heart... and never (NEVER) stop asking questions - EVER.

One of the great things about TPIN (and the 'connected' world in general today) is that you've got the opportunity to check ideas across a broad community. A lot of us grew up "in the dark" by comparison. It was all we could do to get any opinion from anyone who had ever practiced the craft of trumpet playing. Here, you've got it arrayed before you - everyone from Mike Vax, a life long professional world class lead player and dedicated educator, to Mike Spengler, a pro east coast lead player and jazzer who has played with the best... And everything in between - including a lot of greats who I'm probably ignoring (sorry guys and gals).

The folks who throw some insensitive remarks your way are just giving you some insight, as best they can... It's all good.

My advise (again): take it ALL with a grain or two of salt, and just go for it, if you love it.

A great musician and former roomate of mine said: "figure out what you love, and be true to it".

If that's the horn, then so be it. One gaurantee... It'll be a wild ride!

All The Best, (and with reverence to Leon: "Keep on Honkin'" )
