When was the last time you heard a trumpet player ask what
size baseball bat his friend uses?

A better question to ask a trumpet player first is what size baseball HAT do
you wear??!! Knowing how big our "head" is often reveals a lot about our
relational trumpet skills................how we talk and act, versus how our
horn talks and acts!! I may have a different line on this because I play in the
amateur camp, where we deal with position and ability and the jockeying that
goes with it!! Are you better on this chart or do you just think you are, or
want to prove you are!! Last night we played a concert where we had a lead
player subbing on 4th. I play the 2nd book, but had a solo chart on one of the
numbers and I passed it down for him to play, the lead guy said "I can play
that" and I just responded----so can I, but I would like him to play it!! I am
friends with both guys, but realize how important our personality and
relational styles help or hinder our quest for a successful journey and to me a
successful journey does not always mean playing lead!!
