Boy,  Stan, this also reminds me of what I see too often in my clinics, where 
a high  school band director makes all the trumpet players play the same horn 
and  mouthpiece, because he thinks that the section will blend better that  
way.  Then they wonder why their trumpet players are having chop  problems.
I know we have talked about this before on TPIN.  In my big band that  will 
be touring next year, the section is made up of  Getzen, Benge,  Callicio, 
Yamaha, and yes even one Bach, but Dennis Noday uses a Rudy Muck  mouthpiece with 
that Bach.  As has been said in some other posts on this  subject, the blend 
of the section is really wonderful -- because everyone  listens and matches the 
others.
