Yup, I spent many an hour there, and Sachse was one of the books we used
most frequently -- and as a young trumpeter basically only interested in
playing jazz (at the time), we barely touched on transposition. There were,
as Mike points out, a number of etudes we went back to again and again for
flow, sound, etc. (Only in recent years have I started using some of the
Sachse etudes -- as well as other stuff -- to work on transposition.)
And like Mike, I really need to get more of that back into my routine! A
good resolution for 2008.
Hey Mike, remember those big candy canes at Christmas?
Happy holidays to all.
